Scituate Arts Association Celebrates April Vacation
iPhone Workshop at Front Street Art Gallery April 17-20
Scituate Arts Association announces a new educational program: “nskPhotography as Art.”
Scituate Arts Association's new educational opportunity: “Photography as Art,” led by Gallery Artist, Photographer Linda Pedersen, was a great success. Held during the week of April vacation at the SAA’s Front Street Art Gallery and underwritten by the Massachusetts Cultural Council Fund from a grant awarded by the Scituate Cultural Council, the four day course provided students with an opportunity to experience the use of digital tools to create compelling photographs.
During the sessions over Spring Break students explored Scituate's cultural district and its delicate ecosystems utilizing their own iPhones or Android smart phones. There were opportunities to capture images reflective of Scituate's marine and coastal culture and environment while they developed their artistic "eye" and created images that drew viewers to their stories. The first four days were spent out in the community capturing images then on Sunday, April 23rd there was a reception displaying the students’ best work at Front Street. Their works will be on display along with those of the Juried Show artists through Sunday, April 30.
