FREE April Vacation iPhone Workshop
“Photography as Art” for ages 7 and up
at Front Street Art Gallery April 17-20
Scituate Arts Association announces a new educational program: “nskPhotography as Art.”
The first workshop in this program is offered by Gallery Artist. photographer Linda Pedersen during the week of April school vacation at the SAA’s Front Street Art Gallery. Linda will lead this free workshop,"Photography as Art", awarded by the local Scituate Cultural Council and underwritten by the Massachusetts Cultural Council Fund.
Students will be provided with an opportunity to experience the use of tools readily available to them with today’s digital universe to create compelling photographs.
During the sessions over Spring Break (April 17-20 from 9am to 12pm) students will explore Scituate's cultural district and its delicate ecosystems utilizing their own iPhones or Android smart phones. Students will have the opportunity to capture images reflective of Scituate's marine and coastal culture and environment while developing their artistic "eye" and creating images that draw viewers to their stories. The each of the four days will build on the previous day with the goal of increasing awareness of the cultural opportunities in our community.
On Sunday, April 23 from 2pm to 4pm, the workshop will culminate in an art show displaying the students’ best work at Front Street Art Gallery located in the heart of Scituate’s Cultural District.
