The Scituate Arts Association announces their Fall Classes and Workshops.      


The Scituate Arts Association announces their Fall I and II Classes.  Classes begin the week of September 23rd and run through the week of December 13.th    There is a special one day workshop “The ABC’s of Drawing & Sketching” being taught by Anthony Visco on Saturday, October 12th.  And as a continuation of this workshop, Tony will be offering “Drawing & Sketching for Pleasure” on Tuesdays during Fall II beginning 10/28.  Details will be available on the SAA website.

          Classes include our popular ongoing watercolor group taught by Mary Beth LoPiccolo and our Second Wednesday Figure/Portrait Workshop.   Classes are taught at the SAA's Ellis House unless specified otherwise.

TUESDAY

DRAWING & SKETCHING FOR PLEASURE

P. Anthony (Tony) Visco  Afternoons, 1:00pm-4:00pm      

FALL  II October 28th - December 10th 6 wks.

The basics of drawing & sketching through demonstration and lecturing.  The class is suitable for beginners and  intermediate students, and even advanced artists who lack drawing training.  Learn to see in a relaxed atmosphere which encourages growth and development.  Work towards the goal of completing a new piece every time we meet.  This learn-by-doing class includes individual attention and critique.  Have fun while sketching for pleasure.  You can paint from still life or photography.  Tony will be here to help while you have fun sketching for pleasure.

 

SECOND WEDNESDAY

PORTRAIT/FIGURE WORKSHOP
Second Wednesday of the month. 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

We’re offering an opportunity to paint, draw and study the figure and portrait (clothed). Open session starts 7:00 PM til 10:00 PM. Space is limited to 8 attendees.  We will email announcements.

Think Second Wednesday!  Dates September 11, October 9, November 13 and December 11.  $10.00 members, $15 non members.

 


THURSDAY

WATERCOLOR—BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE.

Mary Beth LoPiccolo.  Afternoons, 2:00-5:00.

Mary Beth’s Beth’s watercolor class is suitable for beginners as well as the advanced student.  A relaxed class atmosphere encourages growth and development and includes demonstration, critiques along with individual attention.  Session will focus on painting from stiff life  and photographs emphasizing technique.

WOODCARVING CLASSES  

OPEN STUDIO SESSION AT KUKSTIS WOODCARVING. Paul Kukstis

Various dates:  

Tuesday & Thursday 6pm-8:30pm, Wednesday & Saturday 9:30am-12 Noon and Wednesday 1:30-4pm.  $185 Members/$200 Nonmembers for 5 sessions for 2 ½ hours.

Rolling admission with a flexible schedule and individualized projects, you can start at any time and attend on the day of your choice.  

Note:  Schedule is subject to change due to vacation time and holidays.  All students will be notified in advance.

                P. Anthony Visco, a Plymouth, Massachusetts resident, is a recognized & popular painter of Oils, Acrylics and Watercolors.  Educated at the New England School of Art & Design and the School of Visual Art in New York, he is currently a Signature Member of the NE Watercolor Society, an Associate member of AWS, a Russell Gallery member at the Plymouth Center for the  Arts & the Copley Society of Boston as well as a number of local associations. His painting focus favors New England coastal scenes or abandoned objects in contrasting settings.  His work is diversified in both subject matter and style.  He is the recipient of many juried art show awards including First Place in drawing, pastel and watercolor categories.

                Tony has recently served as a Juror for the Scituate Arts Association and he substituted for Mary LoPiccolo during her winter break this January/February.  Tony has conducted demos for various art groups, as well as a series of one hour long instructional watercolor demonstration:  “Painting for Pleasure.” Check his YouTube Channel.  He has also taught at the Weston COA and continues to teach at the Plymouth Center for the Arts.

                As an adjunctant or for those interesting on focusing on their drawing skills, Tony will be offering a class“Drawing and Sketching for Pleasure” beginning on Tuesday, October 29th 1-4 through December 10th for 6 weeks.  Sign up by mail, online or at your workshop.   

His one-day workshop will feature:

  • Beginners, intermediates and advanced artists come join us:  We all can learn from each other!
  • Develop your artistic skills as you learn how to see and then put it on paper whether with pencil, charcoal or graphite.
  • Work in a relaxed setting and have fun as you learn various drawing techniques and develop the use of characteristic shapes to tell your story.
  • Learn the basics of drawing & sketching.  For those with experience, get back to basics so when you plan a painting, print, collage or other work, you have a solid plan in place. 
  • Explore the basic skills of drawing: edges, spaces, relationships, light & shadow and perceiving the subject as a whole.
  • Instruction, lots of drawing time.  Use your own photos for project work or if weather pemits, will go outside.
