Scituate Arts Association Members’ Show Ribbon Winners
Scituate Arts Association Announces
SAA Members’ Show Ribbon Winners at Scituate Library Gallery
Show through August 12th
The Scituate Arts Association (SAA) invites all to view an exhibition of works by its member artists at the Scituate Library Gallery from July 16 through August 13. Current Members were permitted one piece and local artist Kathleen Mullins Mogayzel agreed to judge. Prizes up to $150 will be given out. Ms. Mogayzel selected Linda Pedersen’s photo “Morning Glow,” as First, stating that “This painterly photograph has a strong intriguing natural design. One foot in abstraction & one in reality…especially with the one footprint in the foreground.” Second was awarded to Theodore Nystrom’s oil of “Dory.” Kathy’s comment was “The artist has chosen strong values and pleasing pigment to add to the strong composition. They combine to set the mood & moment for the viewer.” Robert Beaulieu’s oil “After the Storm,” received a Third. The Juror’s comment was “The artist has captured the awesome extreme light ‘after the storm.’ The reflection in the puddles is exciting and adds to the composition and drama.” Honorable Mention recognized Maureen Brookfield’s watercolor “Golden Pears.” The artist was recognized: “The painter has created a simple but strong painting with old world charm. The fine handling of the watercolors captures the setting and shapes of the fruit …and oh, that lace!” The Scituate Library staff chose Janet Cornacchio's painting, Sea Life as the “Librarians’ Choice Award.
The 5 award winning works will be shown in Front Street Art Gallery from August 14 to September 10.
